The Duke International Student Center (DISC) and UNC’s International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office offer many kinds of support to international students. Please note that soon after you arrive, you should consult with them about getting an ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) or SSN (Social Security Number). They will tell you more about their suggestions and procedures. These are required for filing taxes in the US.

UNC Office Information: Find us in offices 1206 and 1207 in Suite 1200 on the 1st floor of the FedEx Global Education Center. Susan will be in on Monday and Wednesday, and Tom will be in every day of the week except for Friday. Always make sure to make an appointment with Susan or Tom to be sure you’ll find us when you need us.
Duke Office Information: Susan’s office is in Rubenstein Hall 196, and she is typically there on Tuesday and Thursday.
Business Card Information: Duke Fellows, you will receive information from MIDP about getting some business cards with the MIDP logo. Both Duke and UNC Fellows can get Rotary-branded business cards upon request – reach out to Tom to ask!
